This June, La Fantaisie, Paris, is set to welcome Hungarian artist Szabolcs Bozó to reimagine a room of the 73-key hotel with his characteristic use of colour, fluid lines, and bold style.
Continuing La Fantaisie’s ongoing artistic series with a collaboration which resonates with the hotel’s tagline Home of Joy, Bozó will transform one of the hotel’s suites into an immersive artwork for a 9-month residency from 11th June to 22nd February 2027.
Spanning painting, drawing, sculpture and installation, Szabolcs Bozó’s work is rooted in Hungarian folk traditions, childhood memory, and a self-taught visual language that has quickly gained international attention. With a distinctive voice in contemporary figurative painting, he is often celebrated for creating whimsical and uplifting worlds that offer a joyful counterpoint to societal anxieties.
Within the reimagined Room 607, the walls will become a canvas covered with the artist’s pieces created in-situ, and all existing artworks will be replaced with Bozó’s own works, enveloping guests in Bozó’s hand-crafted visual world from the moment they arrive. Handmade cushions and bespoke bedspreads woven with signature zoomorphic motifs bring warmth to the space, while large-scale soft sculptures punctuate the room with abstract expressionism and playfulness. Hand-painted lampshades cast the room in a glow, whilst a curated in-room booklet introduces guests to the artist, the project, and the artworks available for purchase, turning the suite into a living gallery as much as a place of rest.

The transformation of the room invites guests to step fully into Bozó’s expressionist universe. His vibrant and colourful creatures embrace a childlike exuberance and animate the space, striking a balance between charm and contemporary design. At La Fantaisie, designed by Martin Brudnizki, this alignment feels particularly natural. Known for its maximalist language of bold motifs, rich colour palettes, and a celebration of life in full bloom, the hotel provides an ideal setting for Bozó’s work to flourish, together, creating an environment where art and storytelling converge.
A selection of co-branded objects exclusively sold at the hotel, including caps, stickers, playing cards, and trays, offer guests a tangible piece of the collaboration to carry with them long after check-out.
Commenting on the partnership, Bozó says, “I’m delighted to present this collaboration with La Fantaisie, where one of their suites has been reimagined with my characters, coinciding with my exhibition Antidote at Semiose. The space brings together familiar elements from my studio, such as a wall layered with drawings, but the project also allowed me to explore new materials, including fabric and everyday objects, allowing guests to experience my work in an even more tactile way compared to a more traditional exhibition format. Paris as a location has always been close to my heart, with my first show taking place here, so it’s a real pleasure to be back working on such an exciting project.”
The partnership exists in natural dialogue with La Fantaisie’s own design philosophy, where artworks, patterns and fabrics echo the bold maximalist theme. Following on from the recent residency of French contemporary artist Ben Arpéa, who transformed a signature suite into an immersive South of France journey, the residencies together embody La Fantaisie’s vision of hospitality as a cultural platform, where art is lived rather than displayed.
Rooted in the city’s creative spirit, the hotel provides a natural home for Bozó and continues to foster meaningful dialogues with contemporary artists, affirming La Fantaisie as one of Paris’ most compelling intersections of hospitality and living culture.
