20th – 25th September 2026
This September (20th – 25th), Nirjhara will host its first dedicated reading retreat in collaboration with the viral, women-only book community Ladies Who Lit, marking the group’s first experience in Indonesia. The five-day programme is designed around unhurried living and literary immersion, bringing together like-minded guests through a shared reading culture, with time structured loosely around poolside reading, sunset gatherings and moments of connection over locally sourced Balinese cuisine. The itinerary also includes select cultural excursions, with visits to Tanah Lot temple and trekking in the Hidden Valley, offering a sense of place beyond the retreat itself.

Founded by Megan Christopher, Ladies Who Lit began as an informal extension of friendship and shared reading habits and has since evolved into a wider movement built around travel, books, and connection. The concept speaks to a growing appetite for solo travel within a communal environment – where women can travel independently while still feeling safe as part of a collective.

At Nirjhara, this rhythm is mirrored in the wider experience of the property, where days are shaped by the natural landscape: reading by the pool, restorative time at The Retreat, yoga and meditation at the Shala, and quiet immersion in the surrounding environment.
Please note this retreat is officially sold out, however reading retreats with Ladies Who Lit are available to book here: https://www.ladieswholit.co.uk/
