Casa Monti

Casa Monti, is an 18th-century Roman residence, now reimagined as a discreet, stylish hideaway in the Eternal City. Its striking interiors, palpable sense of history, and enviable location, moments from the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, the Colosseum, and the lively streets of Monti, blend artistic provenance with the effortless elegance of contemporary Roman living. 

Designed by Laura Gonzalez, the space blends rich textures, bold colours, and a seamless mix of tradition and modernity. Terrazzo flooring, intricate mosaics, and hand-painted ceramics create a tactile link between heritage and contemporary design, while warm lighting and artisanal details add intimate, residential charm. 

Casa Monti features 26 individually styled rooms and 10 suites, each adorned with bespoke furnishings, handcrafted ceramics, and original illustrations of daily Roman life. Bathrooms offer travertine floors, blush hues, and thoughtful touches like silk sleep masks and melatonin gummies. The 52 sqm Roman Suite includes a private terrace and is inspired by the “upside-down” studios of classical painters. 

An in-house art collection honours Rome’s heritage with frescoes, mosaics, and hand-painted ceramics, complemented by contemporary works like Filadelfio Todaro’s amphorae and Marina Mankario’s plaster Greco-Roman busts, bridging the city’s rich past with its vibrant present. 

On the ground floor, Casa Monti Ristorante offers elevated Italian cuisine in a cozy, stylish trattoria setting. Led by Tuscan Chef Umberto Tuccio, the menu features dishes like fettuccine with duck ragù and tonnarelli cacio e pepe, using locally sourced ingredients. Upstairs, the rooftop bar serves creative cocktails against panoramic city views.  

Located on the fifth floor, the Casa Monti Spa – the only Roman outpost of Austrian skincare expert Susanne Kaufmann – reimagines ancient bathing rituals with a modern twist. Signature treatments include the Alkaline Deep Cleansing Facial, Hibernation Sleep Ritual, and the full-body Susanne Kaufmann Signature Treatment, all with sweeping rooftop views.  

Set in the creative heart of Monti, Casa Monti is surrounded by independent galleries, vintage boutiques, and intimate wine bars. Guests can explore the neighbourhood through curated tours and enjoy an ever-changing calendar of events, from local art exhibitions to mystical dinners with oracle readers.
