Le Rucher d’Evolène
Switzerland
Le Rucher d’Evolène is an evolving hospitality concept set in the village of Evolène in Switzerland’s Val d’Hérens region, aiming to preserve its traditional architecture, patois and living customs, Le Rucher d’Evolène offers a stay shaped by restoration, local encounters and the elemental energy of the Alps. Led by Steven Jacob, formerly of Zannier Hotels, the project brings together a collection of restored century-old houses, private chalets and village spaces in the spirit of an albergo diffuso, offering a decentralised hotel experience rooted in heritage, craft and mountain life. Already home to three private chalets, the project’s 7-bedroom hotel, Le Central, is opened in August 2026 and combines intimate Alpine-inspired spaces, the Olèïnna Spa and a programme of seasonal experiences spanning hiking, paragliding, ski touring, ice climbing, craft workshops and farm visits. With further openings planned through 2028, including a fourth chalet, a dining destination, cultural space, cocktail bar, and sports shop Le Rucher d’Evolène offers an alternative to mass tourism while helping preserve the village’s architecture, language, traditions and living know-how.
