Vestige Son Vell announces new partnerships with ROWSE as the property opens its doors for its first full season

A meticulously restored 18th century manor house, Son Vell is a Balearic sanctuary ensconced amidst the verdant wilds of Menorca, just moments from the coastline. Unveiled in June 2023 as a 33-key property, 15th April will see Son Vell open its doors for the first full season alongside a new partnership with ROWSE for natural, plant-based amenities and bespoke spa treatments.

Grown from a love of nature’s beauty and conscious living, ROWSE exudes timeless allure. Deconstructing traditional beauty formulations in favour of organic, raw and toxic-free ingredients, the result is small-batch amenities manufactured in Spain that are both gentle to skin and planet. New for 2024, Son Vell will debut its partnership with ROWSE, inviting you to indulge in skincare essentials such as the Tangerine Cleansing Balm crafted with sweet almond and coconut oil, Organic Rose Water for a moisturising mist infused with organically grown Damsak rose petals, and an All-Day Hydration Serum with Niacinamide, an antioxidant oil complex of skin-repairing and soothing botanicals such as pear, cottonseed and jojoba. For a sumptuous afternoon retreat, you can luxuriate in Son Vell’s treatment room where ROWSE nourishing facials, using the Vitamin C Booster to leave skin feeling brighter and Eye Contour Serum to soften fine lines and reduce hyperpigmentation, await at the nurturing hands of the in-house spa therapist.

Bought by the Madera family in 2019, Son Vell has been painstakingly restored by an expert team of historians, craftspeople, designers and artists. The 33 rooms are housed across the grand Italianate-style manor house and five surrounding farm buildings, and see serene interiors characterised by terracotta tiles, original wooden beams and natural textiles sit alongside Menorcan artwork and antiques. Two restaurants serve seasonal fare sourced from the hotel’s own farmland and local artisan producers: Sa Clarisa is the perfect spot for a leisurely lunch where Menorcan classics are given a modern twist, while come evening, Vermell pays tribute to island life and Menorcan cuisine with signature dishes.

Days can be whiled away by the pool, exploring hidden calas by boat, balancing the mind and body with restorative Hatha yoga, working up a sweat with cross-training, or watching the sun go down on paddleboards. Come nightfall, you can join an expert astronomer to observe the night sky in startling clarity thanks to Menorca’s ‘starlight reserve’ designation or unwind with an outdoor cinema screening in Son Vell’s holm oak forest. For those looking to engage with island culture, a foray of engaging experiences await, from a Chef’s table for a culinary taste of treasured recipes, to a changing weekly programme where guests might encounter local potters, winemakers or join San Juan festivities.

From its privileged position just 20-minutes from the enchanting city of Ciutadella, you are invited to delight in the island’s riches, Talayotic archaeological sites and pastoral landscape that has earned its recognition as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. With the Camí de Cavalls, at the edge of Son Vell’s 200-acre estate, you can discover Menorca’s ancient nature trail by foot, bicycle or horseback, or enjoy an afternoon dip in the glistening waters of Cala Son Vell.
