Umbria’s enchanting Hotel Castello di Reschio is now open for a 2024 season filled with new creative experiences and an impressive calendar of cultural events

An Umbrian sanctuary of splendour and solace, Reschio Estate is hidden amongst rolling hills, emerald valleys and towering cypress trees. At the heart of the 3,700-acre pastoral estate – under the custodian of architect Count Benedikt Bolza and his artist wife Donna Nencia – is the celebrated Hotel Castello di Reschio which opens its doors to the 2024 season alongside a curation of new creative experiences and a dazzling line up of cultural events.

Celestial Retreat

A three-night journey, this season you are invited to indulge in celestial wonder and holistic rejuvenation at Reschio. Daily yoga helps balance the body and mind as you can chose between an energising morning vinyasa flow or a restorative evening yin practice; while the first evening you will discover stories from the sky as a local astronomer leads a captivating stargazing session as constellations sparkle above in startling clarity, unspoilt by any light pollution.

On day two, spoiling, bespoke treatments are tailored to your zodiac profile for a sumptuous sojourn in the subterranean Bathhouse. A two-hour Bath Ritual is designed to revive the feeling of a mother’s care, as handpicked seasonal plants and wildflowers fill the bathtub. Dry brushing stimulates lymphatic drainage and the release of toxins, before the body is washed gently with cotton and hemp, and then swathed in a linen sheet. The ritual ends with a healing massage using essential oils, foraged by hand in the estate, as you unwind to the sound and warmth of the roaring open fireplace. The final day will allow you to revel in a slower pace and reap the therapeutic benefits of tending things by hand as they are introduced to Reschio’s ‘Household Habits’ with a choice of embroidery, basket weaving and paper marbling on offer.

Rhythmic Notes of Umbria

A jovial celebration of jazz, rhythm and the soulful ambiance of Umbria, a three-night foray will allow you to engage with a selection of musical musings as a gentle nod to both the region’s influence on modern jazz and the Bolza family’s love for the arts. A delight for the senses, you can enjoy a special wine tasting experience that harmoniously pairs your choice of music genre with delectable wines for a fusion of flavours and melodies that tantalise the palate and uplift the spirit. Working with seasoned experts, you can opt for a private lesson perfecting the guitar, piano or vocals, or take to the dancefloor to polish steps and prowess. For those visiting this July, relish in Reschio’s proximity to the beloved Umbria Jazz Festival and select a ticket for one of the internationally renowned artists performing, while those staying at Reschio this August can nurture emerging talent by contributing to the judge’s notes for the spirited young musicians auditioning for the esteemed Reschio Music Scholarship.

Umbria Jazz Festival | 12th – 21st July

Hotel Castello di Reschio will welcome fervent jazz enthusiasts this July as Umbria Jazz Festival, just moments from the Estate in Perugia, announces a stellar line up of illustrious talents. This year will see timeless icon and GRAMMY Award winner Lenny Kravitz open the festival, presenting his 12th studio album Blue Electric Light, an impassioned suite of songs that will continue to distinguish Kravitz as a global presence. Raye will take to the stage following her triumphant performance at this year’s BRIT Awards where she made history scooping six awards, including Best Artist, Album and Songwriter; while the legendary Nile Rodgers, six-time GRAMMY Award winner, will captivate audiences this summer as one of the greatest musicians of all time.

Family Theatrical Spectacular | 26th – 28th July

Creativity, family and the arts are synonymous with Reschio, with the Bolza family producing musicals and performing theatre for years. If you are planning on visiting in July you will see Reschio’s imitable wit and whimsy come to life as the family’s very own theatre troupe take on the role of thespians, costume designers and musicians, with a handwritten script, professional set design and lighting, and even a scattering of professional actors to raise the bar.
