Kamalaya Koh Samui Celebrates 20 Years as a Global Leader in Transformative Wellness

This month marks the 20th anniversary of Kamalaya Koh Samui, the multi-award-winning wellness sanctuary renowned for its pioneering blend of ancient Eastern healing traditions and modern integrative practices. Since opening in 2005, Kamalaya has redefined holistic wellness, creating personalised programmes that support guests on their journeys toward balance, vitality, and transformation.

Over the past two decades, Kamalaya has received more than 90 international awards and has welcomed more than 30,000 international guests, with one life-changing stay lasting an extraordinary 14 months. It’s no surprise that more than half of Kamalaya’s guests return, drawn back by the meaningful human connections they form with its expert team of practitioners. One guest from the United Kingdom has visited 26 times, spending a remarkable 237 days on property – a testament to Kamalaya’s power to transform lives.

From detoxification and stress management to sleep enhancement and emotional wellbeing, Kamalaya has consistently led the way in delivering results-driven, integrative programmes. Gopal Kumar, General Manager and Group Director of Wellness Development, has been instrumental in designing new offerings, mentoring the practitioner team, and guiding innovations that keep pace with the latest integrative wellness research and healing insights.

Reflecting on this milestone, Gopal shares: “Since 2005, Kamalaya has been more than a retreat; it is a sanctuary of integrated healing, integrity, and transformation – a trusted guide for those seeking balance, vitality, and deeper connection to themselves. Our foundation in spirituality and care has always been paired with conscious innovation, allowing us to evolve while remaining true to our essence. As we enter this next chapter, we are dedicated to enriching our offerings and deepening the soul-nourishing experiences that empower every individual to discover their highest potential.”

To mark this special anniversary, Kamalaya will host a traditional Buddhist blessing ceremony led by monks, followed by a celebratory dinner for guests.

Gopal leads with Chakrit Sakunkrit, who acquired the property in 2021 after experiencing his own personal transformation as a guest. Together, they are shaping Kamalaya’s future through innovative new developments, including the recently launched Brain Enhancement programme and the forthcoming Sacred Renewal programme, debuting in 2026, that will invite guests to reconnect with nature’s rhythms and rediscover their inner strength through the wisdom of the five elements.

As Kamalaya celebrates 20 years of transformative impact, it remains dedicated to inspiring and elevating lives worldwide, continuing to set the standard for integrative wellness in the decades to come.
