First discovered by the late Lang Walker, Kokomo spans 140 acres in the pristine Kadavu Islands and fringed by the Great Astrolabe Reef – the world’s fourth largest barrier reefs. Captivated by its unspoiled beauty, Walker transformed the island into a private retreat grounded in sustainability, conservation, and a deep respect for Fijian culture.
Today, under the leadership of newly appointed General Manager Karen Merrick, Kokomo continues to build on this legacy, offering one of the world’s most authentic and refined private island experiences.
Beachfront Living
Kokomo is home to just 21 Beachfront Villas, each set within private tropical gardens with direct beach access and infinity pools. Offering panoramic ocean views and seamless indoor–outdoor living, the villas range from one to three bedrooms, accommodating couples, families, and friends. For larger gatherings, five exclusive private residences perched on the hillside span three to six bedrooms and provide a true home-from-home experience, complete with dedicated butlers.
Sustainable by Design
Sustainability is woven into every aspect of your stay at Kokomo. A 5.5-acre organic farm supplies fresh produce for the island’s restaurants, paired with a dock-to-dish seafood philosophy that ensures a hyper-seasonal dining approach. Conservation initiatives extend across coral propagation, reef restoration, manta ray research, mangrove reforestation and advanced seawater desalination. Led by a diverse marine and sustainability team, you can participate in initiatives such as the Adopt a Manta programme and mangrove planting experiences.

Under the direction of Executive Chef Marty Kindleysides, each of the island’s three restaurants draws on a harbour-to-harvest philosophy, celebrating local ingredients and global influences.

Encircled by the Great Astrolabe Reef, Kokomo is a PADI Five Star Dive Resort with unrivalled access to vibrant marine life – from manta rays and turtles to dolphins and kaleidoscopic coral gardens. Activities include snorkelling, diving, sailing, big game and sport fishing, and boating excursions. On land, trails wind through lush landscapes to breathtaking viewpoints. Cultural workshops, farm tours, sandbank picnics, and tennis and the new pickleball court provide a variety of ways to explore the island. The Kokomo Kids Club offers curated experiences for children, supported by complimentary nanny services for under threes, and the all-new Teens Club.
Wild Wellness
Wellness at Kokomo is rooted in the island’s natural rhythm. The Yaukuve Spa Sanctuary features five treatment rooms, a wet and dry hammam, a hair salon and a relaxation terrace overlooking the ocean.
