Echoes of Formentera: Teranka Reopens for summer 2026

The laidback retreat continues to be inspired by its Bohemian origins

London |  May 2026: Set between protected dunes, ancient fig groves and the pale sweep of Playa Migjorn, the 35-key retreat, conceived by the team behind The Marbella Club Hotel, reopens on the 15th of May as a joyful refuge shaped by land, sea and sky. Built across three whitewashed buildings, Teranka takes its name from terre d’ancrage, a philosophy of grounding and connection, expressed through driftwood installations, citrus-filled bowls, bougainvillaea, cacti and pine. Across the property, artworks curated by Katrina Phillips bring together an all-female roster of artists working in hemp, charcoal, light and sculpture, an ongoing meditation on craft, ancestry and storytelling.

This season, the hotel’s focus turns to two defining pillars: its Luminaries programme and a rare celestial moment, the Eclipse experience. Alongside these, Teranka’s signature gastronomic offering, bespoke retreat experiences, and slow island explorations remain at the heart of its rhythm.

Luminaries: returning practitioners in residence

Teranka’s Luminaries programme brings together bodywork and wellbeing practitioners whose return has been shaped by popular demand and word-of-mouth devotion. This year, the focus falls on two practitioners whose practices have become integral to the hotel’s well-being identity.

Elke Scior | 5–7 June | 28–30 August

Ayurveda Health Consultant, massage therapist and Clarity Breathwork facilitator, Elke Scior brings more than a decade of training in Ayurvedic medicine. Having studied extensively in India, including three years at an Ayurvedic clinic in Kerala specialising in Panchakarma cleansing, her work is rooted in traditional therapeutic systems. Elke offers full-body Ayurvedic massage using herbal oils, designed to support physical balance and long-term wellbeing. Her treatments draw on deep anatomical and energetic understanding, informed by years of study and practice, with a focus on restoring equilibrium and supporting the body’s natural healing processes.

Buzz Lambert |10–12 July | 11–13 September

Buzz Lambert’s approach to bodywork is shaped by a broad and intuitive mastery of multiple modalities. Trained in Swedish, Californian, Ayurvedic, Thai, deep tissue, relaxation and tantric techniques, his sessions are responsive rather than prescriptive, tailored to the individual state of each guest. Every treatment begins with a brief consultation, before unfolding into a deeply restorative session designed to recalibrate both physical tension and energetic imbalance. The result is an experience often described as immersive and dreamlike, leaving you with a profound sense of release and reconnection.

Eclipse: a rare celestial alignment in Formentera

On 12th August, Teranka invites you to experience a rare eclipse through a thoughtfully curated programme designed around stillness, reflection, and collective wonder. To mark the occasion, two experiences will be offered: a one-day immersive offering and a three-night accommodation retreat, both designed around ritual, rhythm and observation.

Island rhythm and seasonal experiences

Alongside its Luminaries and Eclipse programming, Teranka continues to offer its signature rhythm of island life: slow mornings, open-air dining, sea-based excursions, authentic local experiences, and restorative wellness activities designed to reflect the natural pace of Formentera. Highlights include the Sensory Walk, private snorkelling tours with Manu San Félix and National Geographic Explorer, and a range of immersive island experiences.

Artisan Exhibition by Carmen Arbós

This year, Teranka deepens its connection with Formentera’s cultural landscape through a new collaboration with La Plural, the island’s artistic association, inviting Mallorca-based artist Carmen Arbós, to present an exhibition at the hotel. Working primarily across painting, drawing and photography, her practice is rooted in close observation of the natural world around her.

Through her work, Arbós explores the relationship between place, memory and identity, engaging with themes of tradition, everyday life, and both personal and collective senses of belonging. The exhibition at Teranka, which will also feature works available for purchase, brings together pieces from Bailes de agua y Viento, a series of six works on paper alongside Pell i pèl, an acrylic work on canvas.
