This year, global pioneer of medical and holistic health, SHA Wellness Clinic celebrates its 15-year anniversary, having changed the lives of over 60,000 individuals and counting. With more than 100 international awards this year, SHA was named the “World’s Best Clinic” by the World Spa Awards, recognised as a key player by the World Tourism Organisation, in the important global growth of the health tourism sector.
Founded by CEO Alfredo Bataller and son and Vice President Alejandro in 2008, SHA remains a family business at its core, with a hand-curated selection of 350 professionals from 42 countries who work collaboratively to execute SHA’s innovate 360º method based on the key pillars of: healthy nutrition, natural therapies, preventative & anti-ageing regenerative medicine, cognitive stimulation, inner balance, natural therapies, non-invasive aesthetic medicine, fitness disciplines, and healthy lifestyle skills. Alejandro shares; ‘Our main objective has always been to act as a turning point in the lives of our guests and have always been focused on achieving the best results, first and foremost. All that we have ever asked is that they dedicate at least seven days of their lives to us and in return, we gift them with a positive, significant, and lasting change to their health and wellbeing – this is our promise to them.’
From aestheticians to acupuncturists; neurocognitive specialists to pranayama teachers and nutritionists to personal trainers; SHA’s team are in a class of their own, most of whom have patiently waited for their turn to work alongside their peers, to create collaborative and integrative programmes to change the lives of their clients with state-of-the-art facilities and provisions at their fingertips. International fans of the brand include none other than the likes of Barbara Streisand, Donna Karan, Olivier Rousteing, Naomi Campbell, Kylie Minogue and Monica Belucci.
SHA has marked its 15th anniversary with an array of innovative new developments and offerings including:
Leader’s Performance Programme
Drawing on the cutting-edge research of SHA’s dedicated Cognitive Development & Brain Stimulation Unit, SHA launched the Leaders Performance Programme specifically geared towards CEOs, entrepreneurs, business leaders – or any of those who face high levels of activity, effort and stress on a daily basis – assisting them to achieve optimal performance and productivity while taking care of their physical and mental health.
SHA Cookbook
Bringing its famed nutrition concept to the homes of SHA guests and supporters, SHA published its latest cookbook, The Power of Healthy Nutrition. With a foreword by none other than renowned Spanish chef, Ferrán Adriá, the book holds 76 carefully curated recipes based on SHA’s innovative approach to gastronomy adopting a style which uniquely blends Japanese and Mediterranean cuisine since these are the two communities who have the longest lifespan. The food is impossibly healthy-seeming, and each dish is meticulously thought through, energy-boosting and highly balanced made with local, organic, and seasonal produce.
Sexual Health Unit
Spearheaded by Clinical Psychologist, Cynthia Molina, SHA launched a new Sexual Health Unit taking its lead from the WHO’s research which states that boosting your sexual wellbeing is a fundamental factor in improving one’s own overall mental, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual health. The unit was also inspired and informed by the latest analytical data which concluded that approximately 52% of women and 38% of men suffer from some type of sexual dysfunction at some point in their lives. With this in mind, it will address all aspects of sexual wellness including function, desire, and self-esteem.
Global Expansion
SHA’s anniversary is also well timed with the brand’s exciting expansion plans with two new openings slated for the next two years. SHA Mexico is set to open in early 2024 in Costa Mujeres as the first bona fide medical spa destination to launch in America, followed by SHA Emirates in the Emirates in 2024-25. In a game-changing move for the sector, both new destinations will include real estate, with fully serviced private residences which have been conceptualised in response to growing consumer demand and interest in long-term investments into health and wellbeing.
