Cape Weligama
Sri Lanka
Set on the headland of Sri Lanka’s spectacular south coast, only 30 minutes from Galle Fort with panoramic views over the Indian Ocean, Cape Weligama opened in October 2014 and has quickly become the country’s most sought after coastal resort.
The second hotel venture for Resplendent Ceylon, owned by the Fernando family of Dilmah Tea, Cape Weligama follows the success of iconic sister hotel Ceylon Tea Trails; the only two Relais & Chateaux resorts in Sri Lanka.
Every curvaceous corner of the resort, masterminded by Thai architect Lek Bunnag, enjoys 270-degree panoramas of the Indian Ocean. 40 generously sized villas and suites range from 130m2 to 300m2, set within 12 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds to offer some of the most spacious accommodation in the region.
The resort’s timeless interiors have been envisioned by JPA Design’s Singapore studio and have been crafted to celebrate three distinct themes; the island’s prominent maritime heritage, its diversity of fauna and the renowned Ceylon tea.
Since opening, Cape Weligama has been included in the world’s most prestigious hotlists including the Travel + Leisure It List and Condé Nast Traveller Hot List, as well as being appearing as the cover story in Vanity Fair’s esteemed annual travel supplement ‘Vanity Fair on Travel’.
